:: the character
Owain Wyrd :: The peasant Owain of Camelot had his life radically changed in a dark Day of the year 560 A.D. When Morgana Le Fay sieged the city of Camelot in a revenge against her half-brother, the mythical King Arthur, the wizard Merlin used his spells to defend the court. One of these spells brought from afar something unspeakable, which helped the wizard against the monstrous hordes of Le Fay. But, when felt prisoner and realized his fate was already sealed, Merlin performed a last spell in order to protect the world from the thing he had conjured. To do this, Merlin imprisoned the mysterious entity under the human form of the nearest person: Owain, who begun to suffer terrible changes.
Before a pacific townspeople and worried about his wife and child's survival, he became a tormentor. And - as he would realize after a few years - immortal. Owain Wyrd had countless decades to make (and lost) fortunes, travel the world, make and lost friendships and loves and, most importantly: find a sense for his life and to the vain immortality of a man who shares his own body with something he don't know what it is.
The bond with the thing granted Wyrd with the gift of premonition (and, sometimes, clairvoyance), as well a certain "protection". But the possession also punishes Wyrd with accesses of madness and occasional loss of memory. The series Wyrd shows what happened to Owain after the distant year of 560 A.D. You will discover what happens to a man who carries something weird inside himself for many and long centuries.
And why the good Owain of Camelot gained the nickname of Owain Wyrd.
